Introduction of ATCMEE

AnhuiTechnical College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (ATCMEE, in short) ,directlyaffiliated to the Education Department of Anhui Provincial Government, isone of the first national key colleges supported by the Ministry of Educationand the Ministry of Finance, and one of the first model colleges and the constructionunits of the high-level vocational college in Anhui Province.

ATCMEE was established in 1935 known as Wuhu Saint Aloysius School and has been one of the first schools to beengaged in vocational education. ATCMEE has always been treasuring the schoolmotto of “Improving Morality, Practicing Skills，Setting up Business，Dedicating to the Country”.Great importance has been attached to the cooperation between enterpriseand college and the combination between professional practice and academicstudy and the cultivation of learners’ competence.

ATCMEE covers an area of 75.12 acres and have over 10,000 studentsdistributed in 45 programs supported by 10 departments, namely, the MechanicalEngineering Department, the Electrical Engineering Department, theInformational Engineering Department, the Numerical Control EngineeringDepartment, the Automobile Engineering Department, the Department ofHumanities, the Department of Trade and Economics, the Department of BasicCourses, the Department of Ideological Education and the College of FurtherEducation.

ATCMEE perseveres with the connotativedevelopment strategy and strives to cultivate a vocational education brand ofits own. For its outstanding achievement, ATCMEE has been honored as one of thefirst experimental colleges practicing modern apprenticeship, the key collegein national mechanical industry and the advanced unit in vocational education,and the training base for the national most-needed personnel and the advancedunit in outsourcing college services to independent service providers, and the modelcollege in innovation and entrepreneurship education and the excellent unit in buildinga peaceful campus in Anhui province. In November 2013, ATCMEE has successfullypassed the acceptance check of the construction of national key vocationalcollege sponsored by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance. Studentsof ATCMEE have been very competitive in many ways and have won over 310 prizesin various professional contests both of provincial and national level like National Skills Contest for VocationalColleges, National Numeric Control Contest, National Robot Contest, andNational Electrical Designing Contest etc.

During the thirteenth five-yearplan of China, ATCMEE will constantly strengthen the teaching and managingreform, enhance the connotative development and further the internationalcommunication to fulfill the task of constructing a better national keyvocational college.

Program Construction:

ATCMEE offers arange of 45 diploma programs. After professional evaluation by experts of bothin and out of Anhui Province, 5 diploma programs are selected to be Key Programs of State Level and 2programs honored as Special Program inthe National Mechanical Industry. Another 2 programs are supported by theMinistry of Finance. There are also 5 programs titled Model Programs of Provincial Level, 6 titled Special Programs of Provincial Level and 2 titled Programs of Comprehensive Teaching Reform ofProvincial Level and 1 titled ModelProgram of Teaching Reform of Provincial Level.

5 are honored as the model specialties and 6 as the featured specialties and 1 as the model specialty of teaching reform inAnhui province and 2 as the model specialties in the mechanical industry.Another 2 specialties are supported by the Ministry of Finance.

Teaching Faculty:

ATCMEE has aprofessional and experienced teaching team with 549 full-time and part-timeteachers. 90% of them have both professional knowledge and practicalexperience. One teacher is titled NationalOutstanding Individual in Vocational Education and there are 11 teachingteams, 6 teaching celebrities and 11 academic leaders of Anhui Provinciallevel. Besides, ATCMEE has constantly employed a great number of experts andexperienced technicians from different industries.

Practicing Facility:

ATCMEE provides for excellent practicing and training facilities with thetotal value of more than CNY 120,300,000 yuan. There are 148 on-campuspracticing centers including 1 center supported and financed by the Ministry ofFinance, 6 practicing centers and 5 teaching bases of enterprise-collegecooperation supported by Anhui Provincial Government. There is an on-campusplant built and run jointly by ATCMEE and Jiangcheng Automobile Service CompanyLtd. An on-campus ICT innovation base built together with the ZTE Corporationand an off-campus Technology Park built together with the Yijiang Government arethe first of Anhui Province. ATCMEE has also been qualified to provide forvarious social services like vocational skills verification, 3-D CAD training,and professional training for the ship industry and for other specialindustries. So far, ATCMEE has been working withvarious enterprises like Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., Anhui Heli Forklift Ltd.,and Sany Heavy Industry Co. Ltd., to build over 225 off-campus practicingcenters.

Teaching and Scientific Research:

In recent years,ATCMEE has been working hard on over 300 teaching and scientific researchprojects of all levels and has received 59 teaching and researching rewards.For five successive years, ATCMEE has been on the top list in Anhui province interms of the number of research projects and the total research funding.

Enrollment and Employment:

ATCMEE has enjoyed agood reputation for enrollment and employment. For 6 successive years, the rateof first choice, registration and the minimum requirement level has constantlyremained at the top of all vocational colleges in Anhui province. The annual employment ratereaches 98% and has been awarded as the AdvancedEmployment College for 6 successive years. Great importance has beenattached to the professional training, competence cultivation and innovation.ATCMEE has established cooperation relationship with various enterprises likeHeli Forklift, Chery Automobile, Jinding Boiler, Orient Laser Education andMagneti Marrelli to build 124 order classes.

Social Service：

ATCMEE is alsoactively engaged in social service. It has been offering over 15,000 trainingopportunities annually for secondary and senior vocational skills verificationand professional training for enterprises, laid-off workers, off-duty soldiersand labor forces from the countryside.
